Synchronization Download for Customizing Objects
- Compare mechanism: The compare mechanism creates net field information. Data downloaded from the OLTP R/3 system is compared to the contents of the Consolidated Database and only modified data is updated and replicated.
- This method is used to update data not included in the automatic delta download, since it changes infrequently or only in small amounts, e.g. customizing tables.
- The synchronization download can also be used to fix inconsistencies, should they be detected. Missing or redundant data in the CDB can be updated, e.g. after archiving on the OLTP R/3 system.
- The synchronization download may be started automatically as a batch job in regular time intervals.
- Individual download objects may be compared.
The data exchange with R/3 can be classified on the basis of the volume and timing of data
Data exchange type | Features |
Initial | All data downloaded from R/3 in bulk |
Delta | Only the modified/changed information is downloaded |
Synchronization | Used for customizing data, compare mechanism is used to transfer only changed data |
Request | Triggered manually to remove data inconsistencies and get the latest data snapshot for an object instance(s) |
Upload | Data exchange from CRM to R/3 |
